Easiest Way to Extract a .CAB PPC Installer Package from an .EXE
(Desktop-assisted PPC Installer Package)
Universal Extractor is a PC Application (Version 1.6 Compatible with Windows XP, Vista, Seven) which has been programmed to extract almost all possible types of packages (e.g. .ZIP, .7ZIP, .EXE, .MSI and many more). And the wonder is that it can extract the .CAB contained in a .EXE Desktop-assisted PPC Installer Package, with a simple "drag and drop".
The .CAB will be generated in the same directory as that of the .EXE .
In recent times I find that many of our fellow members are asking for .CAB installer files for their PPC, instead of .EXE desktop-derived installer packages.
There are similar issues in other PPC-Specialist forums, where they recommend posting separate links for .CAB installer files every time.
Remember, this is not a program for PPC, and no such thing exists for PPC till date that can extract .CAB files on PPC itself. You need to have a PC, for the time-being.
~: Program Information:~
Universal Extractor is a program do to exactly what it says: extract files from any type of archive, whether it's a simple zip file, an installation program, or even a Secured URL (.msi) package. This is still a work in progress (see details below), but so far it's proven quite useful and I feel others can also benefit from it.
I should stress that this application is not intended to be a general purpose archiving program. It will never replace WinRAR, 7-Zip, etc. What it will do is allow you to extract files from virtually any type of archive, regardless of source, compression method, etc. The original motivation behind this project was that I wanted an easy, convenient way to extract files from installation packages, such as Inno Setup or Secured URL packages, without pulling up a command line every time. In the process I got a little carried away and ended up throwing in support for every kind of archive format I possibly could find.
Universal Extractor, like most of my Windows programs, is written in Secured URL, a powerful open source scripting language. Universal Extractor itself, however, is just a front-end that uses many other programs to do the dirty work. Please see the Credits section below for additional information.
As of v1.5, UniExtract uses Secured URL to determine the filetype of any given file. If this detection fails, file extensions are used as a backup identifier. The table below is a reference of known-supported filetypes and common extensions; any supported archive types should work regardless of actual extension.

The simplest way to Extract the .CAB archive is to Drag the .EXE/.MSI file on Universal Extractor Icon on the Desktop. Leave the rest of the job to the Universal Extractor and relax.
The .CAB will be generated in the same directory as that of the .EXE . Copy the .CAB and enjoy!!!
(* Alternative to Drag and Drop)
After installing this program, Three new items will appear on the context menu (Right Click) whenever a supported format is selected:
UniExtract to Subdir
Select the One you prefer, the Archive will automatically split into pieces, generating the desired component (.CAB in our case)
You may choose the extraction directory.
or set user-preferences accordingly.
Earlier we had been using Secured URL
But, unfortunately he/she could not elaborate on this crucial issue. And the new version of the program is even far more efficient and user-friendly.
